Pastor Tye shares his testimony of coming to know Christ

For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— 9 not by works, so that no one can boast. - Ephesians 2:8-9

Pastor Tyrone Bridges is founding Pastor of Calvary Christian Fellowship of the High Desert established in 2005. He and his wife Mayola have been married for over 20 years They have two daughters Marie & Chrystal, and two beautiful grandchildren Adela & Gio. Pastor Tye was born July 15th 1963 in Atlanta, Georgia.

Pastor Tye shares his testimony of coming to know Christ: I had the wonderful privilege of being brought up in a Christian home along with my older brother Alvin. My parents were committed and loyal members of the Enon Baptist Church in Stonewall Tell, Georgia for as long as I can remember. It was a family tradition to be in Church every Sunday no matter what. My brother and I spent several years at this church. I believed in God, but had not yet come to know that He was truly alive, that He had actually died for my sins and wanted me to come into a personal and intimate relationship with Him. Going to church as a kid was because I had to, not because you get to.

Throughout high school, I would attend church now and then but, never allowed a true relationship with Jesus Christ to materialize in my life. I begin to associate with people who did drugs and get drunk, and before I knew it I was not going to church anymore, and allowed those people who I was associating with pull me down to their level. The interest that I had in God was now gone. I decided to join the United States Navy thinking that being in the military would somehow change my life for the better shortly after I graduated from High School. I would attend chapel services frequently but, I still did not know He was real, and alive. It was only later on (1992), after years of trying to find happiness through various pursuits, that I finally came to know His love and grace towards me.

I recognized that I was a sinner...

Praising • Preaching • Practicing

I recognized that I was a sinner and that He was calling me to Himself. On November 28th, 1992, God chose me; I did not choose Him at the Two Mile Apostolic Church in Twentynine Palms, California. Obviously this took place after the Navy and my father went home to be with the Lord.

I developed a desire to work for the Lord, as I understood it, trying to help other people. As time went on, it became clear to me that God was calling me to be Pastor-Teacher of His word. I begin my education at the Calvary Chapel Bible College extension campus at Joshua Springs Calvary Chapel. By God’s grace I graduated with an Associate degree in Biblical Theology. It has been my joy, and continues to be my joy, to serve God, by feeding his people, through the simple verse-by-verse expository teaching of the Bible. My wife and I have had the privilege of being the first of eight members of Calvary Christian Fellowship of the High Desert (2005) and look forward to serving Him here until we meet Him face to face.

My favorite verses in the Bible are: John.14:6, Proverbs. 3:5-6 and Ephesians. 2:8-9.
